Improved version-control correctness, SQL compatibility, and performance for index operations and remote reads.

## Reliability and correctness

- Fixed schema merges involving dropped or renamed columns, indexes, and conflicts.
- Corrected rename staging, historical queries, workspace results, and reset behavior.
- Added `dolt_checkout('-B', ...)` and remote branch deletion; improved push retries and busy-timeout handling.
- Fixed descending-index queries, transaction-state reporting, and small `max_page_count` settings blocking writes.

## Performance and testing

- Accelerated index builds, bulk updates, index reads, and savepoint rollback.
- Reused HTTP connections for lazy remote reads.
- Expanded regression coverage and tightened SQL parity and benchmark checks.
